In my opinion, having access to additional content now, means the game will continue to be played, and the community will continue to be active. Why rush things, right? The DLC will be released eventually. If that hunter in Star Knight Fatalis armor joins your room, you'll give them the boot for sure.Īnd finally, some of you may not mind playing with the DLC users if they can hold their own, but you don't feel the need to get the DLC yourself. Some of you have sworn to kick anyone wearing anything that isn't currently available in the west. Some of you are currently in full Star Knight Fatalis armor, with a White Fatalis Charge Blade, fighting Savage Deviljho with your friends. Most of you have probably chosen whether or not to participate in downloading these quests. NOTE The method to download Japanese DLC has been patched, and as such, players are unable to get any JPN DLC going forward. Quests like G-Rank Dalamadur, G-Rank Silver/Gold Rathalos/Rathian, and even White Fatalis are available via these Japanese DLC quests, allowing hunters access to new weapons and armor possibilities that would otherwise not be available until much further in the future. This means hunters have access to DLC now that we should be getting months from now. Since the Japanese version of MH4U (known as MH4G) was released months in advance of its Western counterpart, their DLC release schedule is ahead of ours in a similar manner. Players have discovered a way to connect to Capcom's Japanese content servers in order to download DLC quests that have been released in Japan. To catch some of you up on what exactly is going on here, let me explain a bit. I will try to be as unbiased as possible, but I wanted to let readers know going in to this. NOTE: I have downloaded the Japanese DLC myself, and I can understand to some degree both sides of the argument. I hope to raise some (polite) discussion on the matter, and perhaps gain some insight in to why hunters are either for or against the practice of downloading Japanese DLC ahead of its Western release. The following are purely my opinions on what has become a somewhat controversial topic lately among the Monster Hunter community. Is it okay to access content before its official release in the west? What consequences occur from doing so, and what possible benefits are there? Let's try and work this out.
